Access to opportunity and community resources can make all the difference in shaping a promising future, as was the case for Zane, a resident at Wallick’s Lawrence Village community in South Point, Ohio.

Raised by his grandmother, Annette, who has resided at Lawrence Village since 2001, Zane’s life took a major turn as he began to near his high school graduation. 

Annette was determined to ensure her grandson had the tools, opportunities, and momentum to succeed following his graduation. Seeking additional support, she turned to Resident Resources Network (RRN). RRN connected Zane to Ironton Lawrence Community Action Organization’s (ILCAO) Summer Youth Employment Program hosted at Collins Career Technical Center (CCTC).

ILCAO’s Summer Youth Employment Program is made possible by the Comprehensive Case Management Employment Program (CCMEP), which empowers low-income youth aged 14-24 to learn valuable life skills and develop pathways to pursue their dream careers. CCMEP offers career coaching, job placement, tuition assistance, mentoring, financial aid, and transportation support.

For Annette, “It’s always great to have assistance from Service Coordinators.” She deeply appreciates the assistance provided by RRN, the Property Management Team at Lawrence Village, and RRN Service Coordinator Vicki Duley.

Now, Zane is more than a high school graduate. Through the skills he gained at CCTC, he is ready to begin his first term at a community college, encouraged by an incredible support network and his own newfound independence.
