Two Residents Awarded Jack Wallick Scholarships

Every year, Resident Resources Network partners with Wallick Communities to comb affordable housing communities to find residents deserving of the Jack Wallick Scholarship. The Jack Wallick scholarship was established in memory of Jack Wallick, founder of Wallick Communities who wanted to help create better futures for themselves and their families. It is awarded annually to residents who live at Wallick-owned properties, are pursuing an undergraduate or technical degree, and are in good academic standing. Scholarship recipients are awarded up to $2,500 per school year, for up to four years, to help defray the cost of college or technical school.

This year, we are pleased to congratulate Asho Geido and Jose Reyes Marin, who have been awarded the Jack Wallick Scholarship for 2022.

  • Asho Gedi, Resident of Faith Village, Columbus, Ohio.

Asho is a single mother of two who decided to return to college after losing employment. She is a sophomore at Columbus Community College pursuing an Associate degree in Early Childhood Education. The scholarship will help Asho achieve her goal of becoming an educator and help her community.

  • Jose Reyes Marin, Resident of Meadows Apartments, Marysville, Ohio.

Jose is a young man who worked to help support his family, which traveled to America for a better future, while maintaining a 3.9-grade point average in high school. He will be a first-year student at Miami University pursuing a Bachelor degree in Engineering. The scholarship will allow Jose to be one of the first in his family to pursue an engineering degree and to make a difference that will affect people positively.

A special thank you to Service Coordinators who work diligently, oftentimes in partnership with property management, to help connect residents to this and other scholarship opportunities that will undoubtedly shape their future prospects and life outcomes.
